ASFA Delegation Visits the Carribean
and South America

Shaykh Hisham calls adhan--for the first time perhaps--from the parapets of Fort El Morro in San Juan, established by the Spanish shortly after Columbus discovered the island of Puerto Rico.

Shaykh Hisham Kabbani, As-Sunna Foundation of America Chairman, accompanied by his wife and daughter and by a number of delegates from ASFA made a "grand tour" of the Carribean and the northern part of South America. The delegation was involved in numerous da`wah meetings throughout the islands of the Caribbean and on the mainland of South America.

This trip, organized by ASFA associate members in many cities, was planned down to the last detail and "no stone was left unturned" in promoting and establishing information about Islam prior to the arrival of the delegation. Da`wah sessions were held in public meeting places, plazas, weddings, several educational institutes and even in one church.

Many non-Muslims took shahada during this visit, as the delegation traveled from town to town and village to village, spreading the message of love, peace, respect and God-consciousness that is true Islam. The pictures and captions on this describe various events and the effect of the delegation's da`wah on the local inhabitants of the many countries to which they traveled.

Shaykh Hisham speaks to new reverts about Islam at a successful da`wah session in San Juan Puerto Rico. Earlier, after the shaykh led a lively dhikr session 13 persons accepted shahada in that meeting.   Members of a New Age spiritual group listened to Shaykh Hisham express Islam as the way of peace and tolerance, the way of goodness to all and the path to perfection of character. After his talk, all took shahada, then posed for this group shot.

That evening more than 25 persons left Catholicism and entered Islam.   The delegation visits an old church in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Here Shaykh Hisham demonstrates cooking techniques in the old kitchen .

Shaykh Hisham here converses with local immigrant Muslims in a Venzuelan mosque. Their main complaint was the excessive influence of the Wahabis.
