A. Regarding the first question: if non-Qur'anic text, such as commentary or translation, exceeds the text of the Qur'an, then it may be handled without wudu' as long as one does not touch the text of the Qur'an itself. Regarding the second question: If it is in another language then it is not the Qur'an. Regarding permissibility of carrying the mushaf without wudu': It is allowed according to the more permissive view, if there is good reason, such as travel and study. Regarding non-Muslims touching the mushaf: it is forbidden. `Umar ibn al-Khattab's sister did not allow him to touch the folio on which there was Qur'an written, at the time he was not Muslim.
